Ready in time for sowing season, without plugin fees
Helza Hobbyzaden sells vegetable and flower seeds, bulbs and garden supplies to home gardeners in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Jan Hellings has been a client for years. I built his previous shop too.
- 20 days from order to live, well before the season
- € 400 a year in plugins, gone
- 7,611 old links that still work
What was at stake
Sowing season starts in November. Those are Jan's busiest months. In late September the old shop got stuck on bot traffic. A shop that stalls in season costs sales straight away.
What it delivers
- Live before the season. The goal was mid-November. It became 17 October, 20 days after the order.
- About € 400 a year less. The paid plugins are gone, and so is the upkeep of their updates.
- Google doesn't lose it. All 7,611 old addresses still work. Anyone arriving from Google on an old address lands on the right product.
- Built to sell. A short checkout for the phone. Free letterbox delivery from € 35. And a reminder when a payment is abandoned.
"Looks slick."

What I built
A webshop of their own in Dutch, German and English, with 1,473 products. Sowing calendar and growing details sit in fixed fields, so customers can filter on them. Jan runs everything himself and logs in with a link by email. The blog, info pages and old orders came along.
